David K. Neumann, CEO
Dr Neumann is the founder and majority stockholder in Directed Energy
Solutions. He has a Masters in Electrical Engineering (Quantum Electronics) and
Doctorate in Laser Physics. He has managed and directed billion dollar projects
for the government and supervised groups of over 100 people. In 18 months he
built and led a commercial space and telecommunications business unit which
went from 3 people and no revenue to 50 people with a revenue stream of
$10M/yr. He has over 30 publications and 8 patents in the area of advanced
laser devices.
Richard Durham, COO
Dr. Durham has a Ph.D. in Space Physics from Rice University and over 30 years
experience in research, development, education, and management. He has led 50 person
teams to accomplish a variety of goals in the Department of Defense, telecommunications,
and academic environments. He directed the technical, financial, and program aspects of
multimillion dollar software development and process improvement projects that were successfully
delivered to large telecommunications companies. Dr Durham has published papers and made presentations
in the Atmospheric Sciences and Space Physics disciplines.
Tom Henshaw, VP Chemical Systems
Dr. Henshaw has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Denver and has
over 15 years experience in chemical reaction kinetics and chemical laser research.
His previous posit at the Air Force Research Laboratory where he co-invented the cw
All Gas Iodine Laser (AGIL), the first new electronic transition chemical laser in
over 20 years. Dr Henshaw joined the Directed Energy Solutions staff in 2001 where
he directs programs on the development of novel optical and chemical approaches for
laser development and chemical and biological weapons neutralization. Dr Henshaw has
over 25 publications in peer reviewed journals, four patents and is the recipient of
several awards for research excellence.
Jay Brasseur, VP Laser Systems
Dr. Brasseur has a Ph.D. in Physics from Montana State University and 12 years experience
in laser physics, laser stabilization, nonlinear optics and stimulated Raman scattering.
He is the co-inventor of the non-resonant Raman laser in H2. As a post-doc at the United
States Air Force Academy, he developed CW Raman lasers and began work on Raman based LIDAR
and polymer fiber systems. In 2001, Dr. Brasseur joined DES, and began studies on cw optical
pumped molecular iodine lasers and demonstrated a 5-fold improvement in photon conversion efficiency
over previous laser systems. Dr. Brasseur also conducted a design study for a high power Raman
fiber amplifier, developed high power Raman fiber amplifiers for remote detection of HF, and
built a 20 fs Verdi pumped Ti:Sapphire laser. Dr. Brasseur has over 35 publications in refereed
journals and conference proceeding, 5 patents (3 issued, 2 pending).
